Balancing Elements
Balance follows the rule of thirds in basic composition principles. By following the rule of thirds, we place our subject off center which often requires the use of balancing elements to create a good composition. As with all photography rules, this must be taken with a grain of salt as there are always circumstances where a good composition is achieved without following this rule of thumb.
You can create balance by including another object of lesser importance to fill the void or space.
